Low Key Day

After the week we've had, we were ready for an easy day!  Daddy has to work all weekend, so today the three ladies of the house decided to play, work on Mother's Day projects and go watch Levi and Evan play ball!!!  It was a nice break!

Things We've Learned

Well, we've learned some valuable information in the last couple of days regarding these two beautiful darlings.

We've learned that Big Sister now has all her 6 year molars in and she has ZERO CAVITIES!!!!  We are so very glad she loves going to the dentist for check ups!

We've learned that Little Sister is now 36 inches tall and 31 pounds.  She is doing GREAT for a new two year old.

And, after a late night trip to the IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital ER, we've learned what to do in the future if a certain two year old decides to put anything up her nose so far that it cannot easily be removed (and mommy prays we NEVER have to deal with that again)....

To remove objects from the nose...plug the opposite nostril, blow into the mouth as if giving CPR and the pressure will shoot the foreign object right out!  (Who would have guessed?)  OR, you can go to the doctor and they will fish it out with some long instruments resembling knitting needles.  (It is also helpful to have an ipod handy while waiting for paperwork after the bead is removed.)

AND, we've learned that when a certain two year old puts a bead up her nose so far that you cannot possibly get to it and so you are feeling like the worlds most awful mommy, others in the ER will share with you stories of their children putting things up noses and in ears...and it makes you feel at least a little better.

Lynley's Last Day (Catching Up During a BIG Week...Part 3)

This week has been a tad emotional for this momma.  First, Myla turned two!!  She is no baby anymore and she blows my mind every day by how big she is getting.  Then, to prove yet again how fast time flies, today was Lynley's very last day of preschool.
It didn't hit me at first.  Daddy and I went to her morning class program and it was just so fun to see her playing with her friends, getting her certificate and giving her wonderful teacher the gifts she had worked so hard to finish just right.  (Lynley made 2 necklaces for Mrs. Clinger.)  It was sweet to see her giving hugs, taking pictures with friends and sharing snacks with her table.  It was just a precious thing to see.
This afternoon we went back to her classroom to see her enrichment class receive certificates.  Myla got to go with us and Lynley was so proud to introduce her little sister to all the helpers, her teachers and the school "principal."  We watched the girls play and I thought about how in just a short time - only one more year- Myla would be walking down the same halls with these same amazing teachers, bringing home the class stuffed animal and coming to the car with smiles and stories from her days at school.
Certificates were handed out, hugs were given, bags were filled with completed masterpieces that had been hanging on the walls and lunch boxes were pulled out from cubbies one last time before summer officially started.  And as the four of us began to walk down the hallway toward the front door, this momma remembered the first time Lynley jumped out of the car filled with excitement to start her school and meet her teacher.  I thought about the times she begged to go to lunch bunch, the many days she came home talking about a new boyfriend and the fascination and pure enjoyment that could be read on her face after she'd learned something new about a different country or learned to spell a new word.
We stopped briefly to talk with Lynley's teacher from her 3 year old class two years ago.  Then, as we were almost to that door I had to take a minute.  Lynley was done with preschool.  She has grown in more ways than I can count in the 3 years she spent walking up and down those halls.  I shake my head in amazement and disbelief to realize that Lynley is now a Kindergartner!!  I am so proud of the beautiful (both inside and out), caring and smart young darling that she is becoming!  I am so excited (and truthfully a bit anxious) to see what this next adventure as a kindergartner is going to bring!!!

Catching Up During a Big Week...Part 2

We already mentioned that the three Douglas ladies are so proud of daddy for completing the Indy Half Marathon.  Here are just a couple more pictures we wanted to share from his big day!

Myla Is TWO!!! (Catching Up During a Big Week!...Part 1)

Beautiful Myla is TWO!!!  We decided to celebrate for three days!  Friday night we had dinner at Granny Conner's house and Myla did a great job blowing candles out on her cake!!  The weather was beautiful so we got to play outside with Levi and Evan to end our evening.  

Saturday evening Grandpa Joe and Grammy came over and we celebrated some more!  It was good to spend some time with them and catch up.  It has been a little while since we've been able to do that.

Sunday we drove up to Marion and had lunch at Grandpa Dave and Grandma Donna's house.  It was great and we were able to celebrate both Myla's birthday AND Uncle Tim and Aunt Emily being home for the weekend!!!

It is so hard to believe that Myla is two.  She is such a sweet, precious, ornery baby girl and we love her so much!!  Her sense of humor is really beginning to show and she sure loves to have a good time!  She loves to sing, she loves her big sister, and she loves her vegetables!!!!  We just cannot wait to see what this next year has in store for her as she continues to grow!  What a special she is!!!

All About Daddy

The Starting Line!

ALL DONE!!!

A few weeks ago daddy found out that he could get a bib for the Mini Marathon in Indy.  For those who don't speak runner, that means he could buy a spot in the mini.  It had all worked out when he didn't think it would because of work and Myla's birthday (birthday info to come tomorrow) and many other things.  For some reason, daddy has really wanted to run in the Indy Mini for a few years.  Running for that long doesn't make sense to me and Myla, but he seems to enjoy it!
Today daddy and mommy left REALLY early and headed to the big city so he could participate!  He did a great job and we watched for him on tv during the race.  We're pretty sure we saw him when he was on the track at the Speedway, and our cousins saw him waving at the camera as he was finishing up mile 12.  He finished up in 2 hours and 21 minutes and we are all so very proud of him!!!  Maybe one day me and Myla will run with him!
