Yesterday big sister was in her first children's musical at church. She had a BIG part, not only having to learn lines but also having to sing an entire song by herself!! She started, in November, listening to her cd in the car. She practiced her lines, she sang her song while we drove. She played a very rich ("so rich, her servants have servants")young lady named Harriet Van Smythe. Big sister sang a song about all she wants for Christmas (including diamonds galore and a house on the shore), and she did an AMAZING JOB!! We are hoping to get a video of her performance on the blog soon!
Lots of family got to come see big sis and everyone was so proud of her! She said she was very nervous before the show started, but nobody could tell at all. She was just fabulous! Mommy and daddy had flowers for her when she finished, and she got to pick a special lunch to celebrate her big day! (Olive Garden was the winning restaurant. Grandpa Dave, Grandma Donna, Mommy and Myla were all very happy to help her celebrate.)
Today has been another fun day! First, big sis had a 2 hour delay because of weather. That meant big sis and little sis both were able to sleep in and wake up on their own. The elf was hiding really well today! It took several minutes to discover him behind a curtain! Little sis and mommy played the day away inside and never went out in the very cold weather! Big sis had a short school day but still got to go to the library...and she loves library day!
Tonight daddy got to go to a party for his work, so the ladies of the house decided to build a gingerbread house! It was the first one we'd ever tried...and it went really well! Big sis and little sis both got to decorate different sides. Little sis was super excited to put the candy balls all over the roof and sidewalk. Big sis loved being able to make the gingerbread man into her own masterpiece. Everyone was thrilled with how the house turned out and now big sis wonders when she should eat it! (We'll wait a while for that.)
