Yesterday was the second day of my first swim meet. We all got up really early again and had breakfast and headed out the door. Myla went with Pa and Grandma to church because we didn't want her to sit out in the HOT all morning. Daddy, mommy and me headed to the pool for warm ups. I was signed up to swim in two races again, but I had been telling mommy since the day before I didn't want to compete in the second one. It was the 100 meter freestyle.
My parents were really okay with whatever I decided because they didn't want me to be scared, but they thought I should talk to my coach and see what she thought. So I warmed up for my 50 meter backstroke because that was first. I was super excited to be wearing my new bathing suit and cap! I just knew it would make me swim even faster.
Grandma Donna and Grandpa Dave came to cheer me on. It was time to get in the water before I knew it. Well, I ROCKED THE BACKSTROKE (according to mommy and daddy)!! I kept almost perfectly straight the whole way down the lane and I was going even faster than I did the day before. Everybody said I did a really great job.
After a snack under the tent with my teammates I headed over to talk to mommy. I told her I had decided to not do the 100 and she said that was okay. She watched me head back over to the tent and thought we were going to be leaving soon. BUT, I tricked her because she watched me walk right over to my coach and when they announced the 8 and under 100 meter free....I headed to the starting block!
My family was so very proud of me for swimming even though I was really nervous about the last race. I made it all the way and was excited because I earned another 2 ribbons for the day! It was a good morning!
After I finished I got to go to church and then spend the day with grandma and pa. Mommy and daddy had their first experience working a swim meet because our club hosted this meet. They spent the afternoon getting awards ready, running results to the announcer and posting times on the wall. We ALL learned a lot about how swim meets work over the weekend!
