How To Have a Big Week

Things are going well in the Douglas house!  We started the week by celebrating daddy's birthday!!  We went to Grandma Donna's on Sunday afternoon and had a big dinner, cake and ice cream to celebrate!  The cake was quite tasty and I made sure to tell mommy that I liked the "crust" as well as the icing.  (The "crust" was actually the actual cake.)  We didn't just celebrate daddy's birthday that day, but Grandpa Dave's, too!  It was a great visit.
Then on Monday I got to bring Bosco the Bear home from school.  You might remember Flash the Frog from last year.  Well this year our traveling friend from school is named Bosco and he came home on a great day, daddy's actual birthday!!  Me and mommy and Myla had a great dinner all ready for daddy when he came home from work Monday night.  AND we had more CAKE!!!  I LOVE CELEBRATING BIRTHDAYS!!!!!
Bosco hung out with us at Gran's house on Tuesday, too!  I was extremely excited because somehow mommy got the Netflix to work on Gran's tv and so I got to pick out a couple of movies to watch!  AND WE HAD MORE CAKE!!!!  I even helped Gran decorate daddy's cake this time!!  Mommy laughed a bunch because I decided to use the numbered candles 4 and 7 this time.  So it looked like daddy was 47 years old this week!!!!!
Last night me and Myla got to go with Pa to Grandma and Grandpa Filler's house for dinner.  I have really missed going there on Tuesday nights and it was a great first night back.  Grandma made delicious homemade mac and cheese...one of my favorites!!!  (Seriously though, everything Grandma makes is one of my favorites!!!)
This morning I had school and am now waiting to see what we have in store for the rest of the day!  It is only Wednesday but we have already had a big week!

The last couple of weeks have been a whirl wind!  Myla just keeps growing, I've been in school learning to write my ABC's (I can do A really well and can pick out many letters on paper now), daddy has been working hard and mommy has been trying to keep all of us going in the right direction!  It continues to be exhausting, but in a really good way!
Lately Myla hasn't been sleeping as well as she usually does.  She is getting up at night much more and getting out of her miracle blanket.  Several times mommy has thought about not putting her in it, but she really won't go to sleep without it.  So mommy is really trying to figure out what to do!  Even though she is up more than normal, she is still such a sweet little soul.  She is a very happy baby most of the time who rolls over and over, smiles all the time and even laughs out loud way more these days!  Mommy can't believe how long she is.  She is wearing 9 month pj's because she needs the length in her footed pj's!!
School this year is really great for me.  I am making new friends and I even get to see my friends from last year sometimes.  I've learned my left and my right.  I am singing lots of songs about the seasons and days of the week.  Mommy and daddy just can't believe how much I am picking up!  I even blow their mind because of how much I'm learning in my church, too!
I just recently starting going to children's church on Sunday mornings, graduating from the nursery.  Last week I told mommy all about King Ahab, Elijah, and Jezebel!!!!  And mommy gets to see me in Kidz Zone on Sunday nights now.  I am doing a really great job in there and am acting like such a big girl.
On Friday evenings I have been going swimming with mommy and daddy.  I LOVE IT!  The pool is really deep, with the shallow end being 4 feet, so I use a noodle to kick my way around.  I am getting really good at going under water, jumping in to mommy and daddy and kicking from one end to the other.  I have even heard my parents talking about swimming lessons for me!!
To be honest, I am really testing my limits at home right now...testing my parents and making sure they are always on their toes.  It is a hard lesson to learn that I can't just throw fits and get what I want.  It is also really hard to learn that "no" means "no" and I have to use my ears to LISTEN!  I bet my parents say the word, "LISTEN," at least 100 times a day!  Somebody just needs to keep reminding mommy and daddy that THIS IS A PHASE!
I still love being a big sister, though.  I love Myla and I love that she is starting to interact more with  me!  I sit and talk to her and I help comfort her when she is sad.  I get so super excited when she smiles at me!!
I hope this catches you up a little bit.  Tonight I was playing with my cousins and realizing that it has been way too long since I've updated this blog!  I will try to remind mommy that we need to do it ALL THE TIME!

Roll with It

Something pretty big took place yesterday at our house.  Myla Joy figured out how to roll completely over!  She has been rolling from her tummy to her back for a little while, but yesterday she decided to show us it is a piece of cake to roll from her back to her tummy!  Getting that arm and shoulder out of the way is no big thing!!!

Quick Update

Just a quick update from Myla Joy!  I had my 4 month doctor appointment today and boy it was intense!  I met my new doctor and I liked her.  She let me cat nap while she check my breathing and ears.  And she made me smile after I woke up.  I found out that I am a little over 28 inches long and 16 pounds!!!  Yes, I think I will be a tall girl and so does everybody else!  Dr. Mauller talked about when to start letting me eat cereal in the next couple of months and she even talked about REAL FOOD!  I have a bit before I start that, but it was sure fun to hear!!
After the doctor left a nurse came in.  I am learning very quickly that nurses = pain!  I was so happy and then 2 shots later my head was beet red and I had some screaming to do!  I didn't scream as long as the last time I had shots, but I made sure my parents knew I did not appreciate the ambush!
It has been a rather long evening for me and mommy.  I have been a bit clingy after my shots and just not quite my  normal self.  I am hoping to feel back to tip top shape tomorrow!

Growing and Growing Up

One of these little darlings doesn't need to sit in an infant seat anymore while taking a walk.  One of these little darlings started Mrs. Clinger's 4 year old preschool class today.  Both of these little darlings are growing and growing up!  It is almost more than a momma can fathom!
