Swim Meet Day 2

Yesterday was the second day of my first swim meet.  We all got up really early again and had breakfast and headed out the door.  Myla went with Pa and Grandma to church because we didn't want her to sit out in the HOT all morning.  Daddy, mommy and me headed to the pool for warm ups.  I was signed up to swim in two races again, but I had been telling mommy since the day before I didn't want to compete in the second one.  It was the 100 meter freestyle.
My parents were really okay with whatever I decided because they didn't want me to be scared, but they thought I should talk to my coach and see what she thought.  So I warmed up for my 50 meter backstroke because that was first.  I was super excited to be wearing my new bathing suit and cap!  I just knew it would make me swim even faster.
Grandma Donna and Grandpa Dave came to cheer me on.  It was time to get in the water before I knew it.  Well, I ROCKED THE BACKSTROKE (according to mommy and daddy)!!  I kept almost perfectly straight the whole way down the lane and I was going even faster than I did the day before.  Everybody said I did a really great job.
After a snack under the tent with my teammates I headed over to talk to mommy.  I told her I had decided to not do the 100 and she said that was okay.  She watched me head back over to the tent and thought we were going to be leaving soon.  BUT, I tricked her because she watched me walk right over to my coach and when they announced the 8 and under 100 meter free....I headed to the starting block!
My family was so very proud of me for swimming even though I was really nervous about the last race.  I made it all the way and was excited because I earned another 2 ribbons for the day!  It was a good morning!
After I finished I got to go to church and then spend the day with grandma and pa.  Mommy and daddy had their first experience working a swim meet because our club hosted this meet.  They spent the afternoon getting awards ready, running results to the announcer and posting times on the wall.  We ALL learned a lot about how swim meets work over the weekend!

Splashin' Through June

This month has been one of the busiest months we have had...even though it has been summer vacation!  I've kept on swimming 5 days a week and still love it!  We've been to the splash pad once so Myla and I could enjoy the water SOME MORE!  Myla has her own goggles now because she wants to be like me.  We've eaten lots of ice cream (Berry Winkle is our favorite with Culver's coming in a close second)!  Daddy and mommy have been working.  We've celebrated Father's Day with our AMAZING DADDY and our WONDERFUL GRANDPAS!  AND we've been packing because daddy starting a new job July 1st and we're moving!!!  Don't worry....we are still staying in the booming city of Muncie and will have more on the packing and moving to report to you soon!  The other two highlights from this month so far have been going to the Festival on the Green and MY VERY FIRST SWIM MEET!
Festival on the Green was a great Saturday night!  We packed up a picnic dinner, camp chairs and some blankets and headed over to the Arts Terrace at BSU.  The Muncie Symphony had a concert and there was an arts festival all at once.  Myla and I LOVED seeing the snake from the children's museum and petting him.  Mommy thought it was yucky, but we were quite fascinated!  I loved the instrument petting zoo and I got to play the violin, french horn, saxaphone, and the trumpet!  Myla picked on the violin but didn't want to try the other instruments.  We got to dance around during the music AND daddy did the children's parade with us!  The weather was perfect and we had a really fabulous night!
This weekend is my first swim meet.  We had to get up REALLY EARLY (6am) and be at the pool by 7am for warm ups!  I was a little nervous because I heard there were over 400 kids competing over the weekend and because I had never even been to a swim meet, much less competed in one!!!  As a matter of fact, I was the youngest competitor!!
I warmed up with the big kids and I swam in the 50 meter freestyle and the 100 meter backstroke today.  AND I am pretty sure I had the biggest crowd cheering for me!!  I got a big surprise because I thought just mommy and daddy and Myla were coming to watch but Uncle Jeff and Aunt Lesa, Tabatha, Jacob and Kadence, Uncle Patrick, Grandma Donna and Grandpa Dave all got to come!!  I could hear them cheering for me while I was in the pool, especially during the backstroke! And my coach drew tiger paws on my hands to help me swim faster!
I earned 2 ribbons (7th place for freestyle and 5th place for backstroke) and told mommy that even though I was nervous I had a fun time and am excited to do it again!  I got to do lots of celebrating when I was all finished!  I got a new swim suit and cap that I am excited to wear tomorrow (day 2 of my meet) and I got to watch my teammates swim for a while.  Then I got to pick lunch (Mexican) to eat for lunch!  We went to see Grandma Hazel and I told her about my meet and then we had Dairy Queen ice cream for dessert!
Tonight mommy and daddy packed (after daddy and Myla took a little nap) and then Grandma and Pa came over to watch the video of my meet!  It was fun to watch cause I got to see what I looked like and I got to hear everybody cheering for me again!  I LOVED IT!
Tomorrow is going to be another early morning, but we are all looking forward to what may happen!
