Day Trip

We braved the weather forcast today and headed to the Indianapolis Zoo!  Boy are we glad that we did!!  We got there just after they opened and it was such a good time because there were not tons of people (probably due to the weather forcast and the early hour).  We got to see EVERYTHING!!  A couple of our favorite parts of the day happened to be the orangutan center, the dolphin show, and the cheetah talk.
We spent lots of time watching the orangutans this morning!  We watched them eat breakfast and we got to see Rocky (the 10 yr. old boy) pick up a huge barrel with his feet and then swing all around the center.  We got so close to them!!  We also saw the alpha male playing a puzzle game on the computer with one of the zoo workers.  It was a matching game and he did great!!  It was really fun to watch all of them play and climb and eat and sometimes just sit around!  Definitely one of the coolest places we have visited!
We loved watching the dolphin show, especially when they told us about the new baby dolphin who was in the water today.  We got to go underneath the water and watch them, too!  And the dolphins danced to one of Myla's favorite songs, "Happy!"
We just happened to be at the right place at the right time and got to watch the workers feed the cheetahs a snack.  They were right in front of us and we thought it was funny that they kind of sounded like cats!
Because we started so early, we were able to see all the exhibits, from the desert meerkats to the polar bear.  We checked out the white rhino and the giraffes.  We rode the carousal and the roller coaster!  We checked on the bears twice throughout the day, per request from Myla.  We spent some quality time at the splash pad (thanks mom and dad for remembering our swim suits)!!  And we were able to check out the butterfly garden, where butterflies were all around us!
It was a great day and it never rained once!  We got hot in the afternoon, but it was probably the coolest trip to the zoo at the end of June that we could have imagined!  Seven hours of animal fun!!

Lake Celebration

This weekend was the first time ever that me and Myla got to go to Big Turkey Lake.  We've heard stories about how daddy would go there every summer when he was growing up and how much he loved going.  We'd heard about the great fish place and taking baths in the lake.  We'd heard about the beach.
Well this weekend we got to check it out for ourselves!  Grandma Donna retired on Friday and Aunt Emily came up from Kentucky, so the whole family (except Uncle Tim and we missed him) went up to the lake for a few days.
We got to have a fire and make smores, go swimming, eat at the fish place two times, go fishing (and I caught a little fish), play card games, color, read and have lots of fun with our family!!  It was a great trip and daddy was so happy to share it with us!!
