Field Trips, Fairs and More Baseball

The weekend after Myla's birthday was a busy one!!  Mommy and daddy were able to go on field trips with both girls, we were all able to visit the Ball State Carnival and we went to an Indian's game with Grandpa Dave, Adam, Christy and Isaac.  We really know how to pick great games and had another excellent time cheering on the Indians and eating popcorn.
Myla's preschool class visited the Muncie Children's Museum and Lynley's 2nd grade class went to the Indianapolis Children's Museum.  Both were fun trips.

Celebrating FIVE

Myla Joy turned 5 this year!  We had a pretty serious celebration.  She had ice cream 4 different times in one day!  Our good friend Jennifer made sure she had ice cream with sprinkles (her favorite) and a number 5 candle to blow out during a trip to Dairy Queen.  Myla got to shop at Toys R Us and she picked a dinner at Red Robbin with Grandma and Pa (and more ice cream with those bottomless fries) to end the evening.  We loved celebrating this tenderhearted, hilarious and loving little lady!
(We know there are more pictures from the celebration...we just need to find them and will add some later!)

2nd Grade Wax Museum

For a 2nd grade project, Lynley picked a person in history to learn about and to portray in a wax museum.  She picked Shirley Temple and used the internet and books to learn some interesting facts about this famous lady.  She also watched a few movies from when Shirley Temple was young.  Lynley learned how Shirley was an entertainer during the Great Depression.  She learned all about what happened to our country during the Depression and how Shirley made people smile during a very sad time.  She also learned about the work Ms. Temple did as an ambassador when she was an adult.  Lynley found out that Shirley Temple actually used a sling shot to hit Eleanor Roosevelt in the rear end at a barbecue!  This was Lynley's favorite fact to tell everyone at the wax museum!  We learned how to make rag curls just for the occasion!  Lynley worked hard on her project and did a great job!!

Cincinnati Trip

In the spring we were able to make a trip to Cincinnati for a REDS game.  This might be the coolest game ever in the history of the Douglas Darlings!  It was a tad chilly and it was rainy sometimes, but we braved the elements and were rewarded!!  Not only did we have amazing seats, but we were on the JUMBOTRON several times!!!!  And while heading for a little restroom break we ran right into ROSIE RED!  It was a fabulous time with Grandma Donna, Grandpa Dave and our cousin Alex!  While in the big city we spent a day at the Newport Aquarium and had another marvelous time!
