Better Than Any Plan

Remember all those plans??  Well I did get a shower and I did play dress up...but what else we did was sooo much better!  We saw Evan, Levi and Aunt Sara because she was on fall break!

Correction, and Dreary Day Plans

I need to correct myself!  Both me and my secretary (mom) mistyped yesterday!  We said that  was gearing up to be baby sat for the first time ever, but that isn't true.  We were thinking about it while laying in bed last night and realized that Myla has gotten to stay with Uncle Lawrence and Aunt Sara before!  How could I forget that Levi and Evan have already baby sat my sister??  All I can think is that they did such an EXCELLENT job that it wasn't traumatizing on momma like leaving my baby sister usually would be!  So, my correction is that Myla is gearing up to stay with her SECOND ever baby sitters (except grandparents)!!
Now, it is quite ugly out today and so I am going to make a list of things that need to get done!  I'll try to update you tonight and let you know what actually got finished!!  Mommy doesn't have to go to church today because she worked yesterday and is going tomorrow.  Plus the spider web lights are going to be hung in the gym and she doesn't have to be there for that part!  So, I am making plans!!!  Here is my list for this dreary day:
Play Dress Up
Myla needs her nails trimmed
Showers for everyone
Watch some cartoons
Try on Halloween Costume
Finish my school homework for tomorrow
Pick up my toys from the living room (This is from mom.  I would rather leave the toys on the floor.)
Color
Play More Dress Up
Paint Fingernails
Go to Walgreens (I like to go there at least once a week to see the latest "as seen on tv" products.)
Play Some More

I think my parents have a few things to add to this list...but this is my list!  I'll let you know how it goes!!!

Gearing Up

The whole family is gearing up for a big weekend!  Daddy is getting ready for his half marathon Saturday morning, mommy is getting ready Fall Festival on Saturday, Myla is getting ready to be "baby sat" for the first time ever (except by grandparents), and I am getting ready for THREE DAYS OF DRESSING UP IN MY HALLOWEEN COSTUME!!!
It was a bit of an ordeal, but I am finally very, very happy with who I will be on Halloween!  I can't even remember if I told you this before, but for a couple of months I've wanted to be Jessie from Toy Story.  The thing was, I didn't want to be Jessie unless Levi would be Woody!  So I settled for a different costume (Tinkerbell) because I didn't think I could talk Levi into my plan.  HOWEVER, Aunt Sara must have worked some magic because we found out last weekend that Levi had purchased a Woody costume!  It only took a couple of sad looks to my parents to get them to agree to take Tinkerbell back to the store and to get Jessie!   And I am super stoked that I get to wear my outfit way more than one time!!!
Uncle Adam and Aunt Christy are going to watch Myla Saturday while mommy works fall festival and I get to PLAY at fall festival!  She is looking forward to spending some quality time with them.  She is pretty fond of Adam's voice and we all know she will have a great time with both of them.
Mommy has been at church a TON already this week getting things together!  We are all going over tonight to work.  (Well, mommy and daddy are going to work...I will probably see what kind of trouble I can get into running through the buildings!)
Daddy is trying to rest up and get his last "little" runs in before Saturday morning.  I'm not sure if the "RUNNING BUG" will rub off on me just yet.  I don't like to get hot and sweaty...so it presents a problem!  But I sure am proud of daddy for doing it!!
That is where we are right now...Busy, Busy and More Busy!

Black-Mail-Pictures -- By Myla

Now that I have these new teeth I love to run my tongue across them!  I am sure one of these days my parents will use these pictures as blackmail.  Something for me to look forward to, I guess.  My hair is sticking straight up because it has been in a hat this morning and I am making silly faces...all the while discovering the neat ways my tongue can hit those teeth!!!
Yesterday was a long day for most of the Douglas family.  Mommy felt crummy, I felt crummy and Lynley was on the verge of feeling crummy.  It was a cold, rainy day and we decided to just stay inside all day.  There were some high points of the day: playing Just Dance 3, watching Spooky Buddies, getting cereal all over my face and body while mommy tried to feed it to me.  Lynley even got to play with lots of toys while I slobbered all over a few teething rings and did continuous rolls across the floor.
I took 2 naps and whined a lot just because I didn't feel good, Lynley and mommy laid on the couch and daddy went to work.  I wouldn't call those last few things exciting, but what else is there to do on a rainy day when you feel crummy?
This morning me and Lynley got up early and went with mommy to the salon to get her hair trimmed.  Lynley took her game and sat like a big girl most of the time.  I stayed in my car seat and just watched the world most of the time.  Because me and mommy still aren't feeling 100% I am not sure what the day holds.  It is sunny out, which is nice.  We are just not sure how much we'll get done.
Maybe it will be another day of rolling across the floors, getting cereal everywhere, and watching the family play Just Dance.
Happy Friday, Everyone!

Mid Week Check In

The beginning of this week went really well.  Monday was beautiful and so I drove my barbie car around and Myla got to take a long walk.  It was also the day of my Open House at school and I had lots of people come to see my room!!  Mommy and daddy and Myla were there, of course.  Grandma and Pa, Grammy and Grandpa Joe, and Grandpa Dave and Grandma Donna all came.  And Uncle Adam came, too!!  I got to show everyone all the neat things we do at school AND I got to visit the book fair!  It was a great night!!  We also got to go eat with Grandma Donna, Grandpa Dave and Adam at Pizza King (one of my favorites)!!
Yesterday we went to Granny's house and had a great time.  We stayed until time to come home and take a nap.  During nap time I might have been caught playing in the bathroom again, but I won't confirm or deny that.  And Tuesday night I went to Grandma and Grandpa Filler's house while mommy had a meeting.
Today was a good day, too.  I had school and it rained all day so we played inside a lot.  It was nice because daddy was home with us.  The only yucky thing is that Myla isn't feeling well.  She just went to bed for the night (hopefully) after a day of crying, having a slight fever, coughing and sneezing with runny eyes.  We are hoping she will feel much better tomorrow!

Close Encounter

I had a close encounter with the television yesterday, and it wasn't a good encounter.  I was running into the living room, tripped and fell right into the television and the black thing that holds the television!!  I fell right on my nose and it hurt so very bad!  As a matter of fact, it hurt so much that daddy took me to the doctor to see if it was broken!
The doctor said it wasn't broken but that it would probably bruise really good.  She said I should tell people I got in a fight with a bear and I won!!  Well, she put some medicine in my nose because of the "clotting" (whatever that means), and she said to try and keep me from picking at my nose for the next few days.  So we've been very careful not to bump my nose or anything.
Last night me and Myla got to go to grandma and pa's house while mommy went to a bow party and I still got to play.  My nose wasn't hurting at all.  Then when we got home it only hurt when I changed my clothes and when I tried to lay on it in bed.
Today mommy was worried it would be all black and blue (thank goodness I already had my pictures taken at school on Wednesday), but actually it isn't!!!  I just have these 2 bright red lines on my nose and one on my upper lip!  That is so much better than black eyes!  So I went to school and when I came home I had a surprise waiting on me from Uncle Jeffy and Aunt Lesa!!!  They had brought  me balloons AND Brittany, the Chippette (a beanie baby) to help my nose feel better!!  I was super excited!
The rest of the day will hopefully be relaxing!  Mommy doesn't feel so great, Myla seems a bit tired and cranky, my nose requires me to not run around quite as much, and daddy has to work some this afternoon/evening.  So we are all going to have lunch together and maybe I will take a nap after bit and then me and Myla and mommy are going to watch Aladdin.  Who knows what else is in store, but I am thinking about putting on some pj's and calling it an afternoon!

Let's Just Suppose

I am not saying any of these things REALLY happened today.  I am just saying that they might have.

Me and Myla and mommy started this morning by going to church.  I had a great time with all my friends.  Afterward we came home because mommy was going to fix dinner for me and grandma and pa.  It was good, especially when I dipped my chicken into ketchup!
Myla was pretty tired and so she fell asleep right after we finished lunch.  Grandma and pa stayed to watch her while me and mommy and daddy went to Grandma Donna's first open house!  I was super excited to walk through the house and even more excited about the back yard!  I had a cookie and thought about all the reasons we should buy that house!  Grandma did a great job showing the house and I just know someone will buy it.  On the way home I told mom and dad all the reasons WE should buy it, but daddy says we don't need to buy a house right now.
Next is where things get a little interesting, if they really happened!  I came home and mommy said it was time for my nap.  She could tell by looking at my eyes that I was very tired and so she tucked me in and then went back to the other room to do some work.  I was really quiet so mommy thought I was sleeping. When she checked on me about an hour later she could tell I was up in my bed.  All seemed well.
When nap time was over I got out of my bed and mommy immediately knew something was off.  First of all, I didn't have a shirt on and my body and hair looked like I'd just gotten out of the shower.  Mommy asked me if I was wet and I told her no.  Through some more investigating mommy discovered that I felt a bit "greasy" and went to check things out.
Taking a look in the bathroom mom noticed something all over the floor, the sink, the toilet (or 'pot' as I like to call it) and the towels.  Taking an even closer look she noticed that the Vaseline jar daddy had used this morning was open.
I am not saying this really happened, but maybe I spent my nap time playing with an entire jar of Vaseline.  And maybe after mommy found everything she had to spend an HOUR trying to get the stuff out of my hair.  And maybe daddy had to take all the sheets off my bed because it was ALL OVER everything.  And maybe mommy had to call grandma to find out how to get the stuff out of my hair.  And maybe grandma had to call the people who cut our hair to get a second opinion.  Then maybe we had to use Dawn dish soap to try and get the stuff out!  And maybe after 2 more washes a bunch came out, but we're going to have to try again tomorrow to get my hair back to normal.   And then maybe mommy had to fix dinner, try to keep sister happy, and clean the bathroom up all at the same time.  And  maybe daddy had to start a load of laundry and keep sister happy when he could.
Like I said, I am not saying any of this really happened...but maybe it did.  And if it did, you can imagine that we are all ready for a good night of rest.

Homecoming Happenings

Well Myla had another first today.  It was her first homecoming parade.  I was a little bit confused at first because I wanted to know if there was a baseball game after the parade, but mommy said today was homecoming and there would be a football game.  I am so used to seeing parades in Cincinnati on Opening Day that I just figured we'd go to a baseball game afterwards.
Game or not, it was a great morning.  Mommy and me and Myla went to the parade!!  I rode to a great spot to watch everything with my Grandma and Pa and mommy walked there pushing Myla in the stroller.  We couldn't believe that it was so hot for a homecoming, but we were all able to wear short sleeves and shorts!
Once the parade started we saw all kinds of craziness!!  Bands, Charlie the Cardinal, lots of floats and lots of super heroes (since that was the theme this year).  We even saw some great friends from church who were walking in the parade!  It was a lot of fun but it was sure hot.  I got really good at waving at the floats so they'd throw me candy.  You wouldn't believe all the candy I got!!  Myla did a great job, too.  She sat outside for a bit and then she sat in her stroller.  She made it through about half of the parade before she finally just fell asleep.  Daddy had a small break from work so he even walked down to watch some of the parade with us!
When the parade was over we went to meet Uncle Lawrence, Aunt Sara and the boys for lunch.  It was so good to see my cousins because it has been a while!  After lunch we headed to Grandpa Max's house because today is his birthday!!  We visited for a while and made sure he knew we were so glad it was his special day.  We stayed until Myla was ready to go take a nap.
Me and mommy and Myla came home.  Myla took a nap.  I pretended to take a nap, but at least I stayed in my bed instead of playing around on the floor.  Then there were baths to be had, dinner to eat, cleaning up books and toys, a bit of playing to do and finally it is bed time!  Since I didn't have my nap today I am pretty beat!!

Myla's First Field Trip (and Other Firsts)

You would not believe the week we have had!  It has been a whirl wind, but I am just going to focus on TODAY.  Today was a huge day, too!  This morning we all got up and got ready for my field trip to the Christmas Tree Farm (also a pumpkin patch).  You read that right, we ALL GOT READY!  Mommy and daddy and Myla were going with me!
We had such a great time.  Myla went on her first field trip and she was such a good girl.  She rode in her stroller or was carried the whole time!  She even went through a corn maze AND took her first hay ride and she is ONLY FIVE MONTHS OLD!  You would have thought she was a pro, though!
So on the field trip I learned about the trees that grow on the farm and then we went to the petting zoo.  I fed some goats.  I watched some pigs.  I touched some rabbits.  I talked to and touched a momma donkey and her baby.  I went pumpkin bowling!!!  Then we went through a corn maze, picked out pumpkins (me and Myla and mommy/daddy all got some), and took a hay ride!!!  It was a fun packed couple of hours!!!
Myla was wiped out on the way home and took a good nap!  After lunch we were all feeling pretty tired and decided maybe we should ALL take naps!!  (I forgot to mention that Myla didn't sleep well last night and kept the whole family up.  Maybe it was because her TWO BOTTOM TEETH FINALLY POPPED THROUGH, or maybe it was because she kept rolling on her belly and getting mad.  Whatever the reason, we were all tired!)
We all slept a little over an hour and then headed out to get Halloween costumes.  I picked mine out and Myla has one, too!  We stopped at Target to get Myla some CEREAL because mommy decided to start her on rice cereal tonight at dinner.  And then we headed to SWIMMING!!
Me and mommy swam tonight.  Daddy didn't because he has to go play basketball tonight with a bunch of work people, so he and Myla watched us.  Again, Myla was very good and she really liked me talking to her while I was swimming.  I even played a ton in the deep end tonight because I wore a life vest.
We came home and had dinner, EVEN MYLA, and then spent a little bit watching television while mommy got Myla ready for bed.
We are all so very tired after a great day!  Daddy went to work just a little bit ago.  Myla went to bed.  Mommy just finished dishes and now it is time for me to say, "GOOD NIGHT!"
