Awesome August (So Far)

The beginning of August means a couple of really big things for our family!  First, Lynley always starts school the first week of August.  This year it was on August 4th.  2nd grade is already shaping up to be a fabulous year.  We all love her teacher and Lynley has a smile on her face every day when she comes out of school.  She is already learning a lot and we've just completed her second week!
The beginning of August also means Lynley has a birthday!  It is hard to believe she is already EIGHT years old!!  We celebrated at home, at school, at Berry Winkle, and at Granny Conner's house (where we also celebrated Levi's EIGHTH birthday, too)!!
The beginning of August also means the Indiana State Fair!  This year was particularly special because it was the first time daddy has ever been able to go with us!  He usually has to work during the fair, but this year he was able to be a part of the fun!  The whole Penticuff/Douglas clan got to go together!!  We missed Uncle Tim, but everyone else was able to take the day to head to Indy!  We had pretty great weather considering it was August and we were able to see many animals, great 4-H projects and some pretty fun rides!  We learned about bees and how they make honey.  Lynley was fascinated by the queen bee and seeing the worker bees around her.  And, of course, there was much fair food to taste!
It has been a very busy couple of weeks, but it has been an awesome couple of weeks!!

End of Summer Pictures

Summer break really flew after the 4th of July!  Myla ended up with a compound fracture on her first metatarsal (she broke a bone on top of her foot) and was in a cast for several weeks.  Both of the girls played and played while daddy started training for his new staff and mommy tried to get everything ready for the beginning of school, the start back up of Kidz Zone and all the other little things that had to get done.  Here are a few pictures we found on our phones of the last little bit of summer break.
We also found a few pictures from Lynley's swim meet this summer.  She participated in the Mayor's Meet and we were so proud of her!  She competed in the 50 meter races for freestyle, backstroke, breast stroke, and butterfly!  She also did the 100 meter freestyle and backstroke races AND she competed with the older girls in a relay.  Her times from last year all improved a TON and she placed fourth in the butterfly!!  She did a wonderful job!

July 4th, 2015

We had a wonderful celebration on July 4th!  We started out the morning with daddy running the Four on the Fourth in Yorktown.  He ran 4 miles and then came home to have donuts with his girls.  Then we all got ready and went to Granny's house for a cook out lunch!
We had such a good time playing with Levi and Evan and Kadence!  We got to tell everybody about our trip to the zoo and see pictures from when Levi and  Evan went to the zoo!  All the grown ups talked and talked, but we all had a good time!
After lunch we went to Greg and Debbie's house to swim and to see more family!  Daddy played with us in the pool for a long time and mommy made sure we stayed lathered up with sun screen!  After lots of swimming we had more food!! :)  It was also delicious. Grandpa Dave shot off a few fireworks for us and they were so much fun to watch.
Once we were all dry and our tummies were full, we grabbed some bug spray and some snacks (for later) and headed downtown for some more play time and to get our spots to watch the fireworks!  We played on the big hill and danced to the music played by WLBC.  We lit some sparklers and had plenty of glow in the dark items to wear!!  We got flags from the firemen, ate corn on the cob and played with a bubble machine!
FINALLY at 10:00pm the fireworks started!  It was a great show and we had no trouble sitting and watching all of them.  Myla's favorite fireworks were the ones with hearts in them and I really liked the ones that came up out of the ground and made lots of noise!
We were so tired by the time everything was done and it was time to go home!  Believe it or not, we stayed up long enough to shower and get all the sunscreen and bug spray off and then we all went to bed and slept REALLY WELL!
It was a fabulous 4th for the Douglas family!!
